The unavoidable car damage
The time I woke up.
The video call from my kids.
The duration of the call.
The time I took for breakfast at the hotel.
The time I went to the parking lot to start the road trip back home.
The itinerary choice.
The choice to delay refueling until I left.
The traffic jams on the road.
The choice to pull over at that gas station.
The empty gas pump.
The choice not to wait for another pump to be free and drive to the next station.
All of this led to me being stuck behind a truck — maneuvering on the highway on-ramp, trying to reverse back to the gas station parking lot — with a line of cars behind me.
The truck damaged my car. Nothing bad. But still…
I was pissed off.
Looking back, I realized there was nothing I could have done to avoid being at that exact place at that exact time.
As if it’s where and when I was meant to be.
By extension…
Isn’t it the case with all the moments of our lives?
